About the show
The destruction of Pompeii (AD79) is roughly 2000 years ago, whilst the creation of Something Underground Theatr company was only 20 years back.
Something Underground decided to mark this milestone in their (shorter) history, with a romp into the past, through a story that spans the ages, with a sandalled foot in each era.
And why not? The theatres in Pompeii were host to much theatre, bloody gladiatorial games, and very bawdy graffiti; graffiti that has inspired Something Underground, in their latest play (History Has No Safe Word) to unpick and decipher the lives of Pompeii's underclasses.
