The Sebald Lecture is given annually on an aspect of literature in translation and is named after the writer W.G. Sebald. In its 30th anniversary year, the lecture is given by Rowan Williams, exploring the translation of poetry.
Rowan Williams is Master of Magdalene College Cambridge and was formerly Archbishop of Wales and from 2002 to 2012 Archbishop of Canterbury. He is known internationally as an outstanding and charismatic scholar and teacher. His thinking and writings go to the heart of society's current spiritual and social needs.
