About the show
Songs We Carry, the highly acclaimed collaborative project between singer and multi-instrumentalist Ana Silvera and Oud virtuoso Saied Silbak, comes to London’s St Martin-in-the-Fields for a very special expanded performance with Sinfonia Cymru.
Described by The Arts Desk as “beautiful and deeply moving”, Songs We Carry explores the emotive, melancholy of Ladino (Judeo-Spanish) music and the rich Maqams and intricate melodies of Arabic song. For this expanded performance, legendary Welsh musician Patrick Rimes has rescored Songs We Carry to be performed by Ana, Saied, himself and four Sinfonia Cymru musicians, adding complementary Welsh songs to the set.
Featuring - Saied Silbak

London-based Palestinian oud virtuoso Saied Silbak brings his latest project, Oud for Palestine, to Kings Place.
Oud for Palestine, reimagines beloved Palestinian folkloric songs with an intimate trio of Oud, double bass, and Arabic percussion. Alongside six traditional classics, the album also features ‘Voices from Gaza’, an original composed in 2024 as a response to the genocide in Gaza.
Through fresh arrangements infused with his signature Oud playing and rich musical background, and by stripping away lyrics, Silbak delivers a powerful, resonant statement: a voice of solidarity with Gaza and a celebration of Palestinian culture which carries memory, resilience, and beauty.
