Correspondences (Live), a powerful performance by Soundwalk Collective and Patti Smith, unfolds as a singular encounter between sound, poetry, film and installation.
This live performance brings the decade-long collaboration between Soundwalk Collective and Patti Smith into an immersive journey through fragile landscapes, human histories and the invisible forces that bind them. At its heart are field recordings gathered by Stephan Crasneanscki across some of the planet’s most charged and vulnerable environments – melting glaciers, deserts, forests and urban landscapes.
Far from simply documenting these places, the recordings form a sonic architecture that surrounds the audience, carrying the textures of wind, ice, stone, water, animal presence and human trace.
Within this shifting environment, Patti Smith’s voice and spoken word bring together literature, personal reflection, historical memory and poetic attention. Her presence turns the performance into both a lament and an invocation: a call to listen more deeply to what is vanishing, what remains and what still insists on being heard.
Featuring - Soundwalk Collective
Soundwalk Collective is an international experimental sound art collective founded in 2001 by Stephan Crasneanscki, who was joined by Simone Merli in 2008. The group is based in Berlin and New York.
It operates in a continuously rotating constellation of sound artists and musicians and their approach to composition combines anthropology, ethnography, non-linear narrative, psycho-geography, the observation of nature, and explorations in recording and synthesis. Recent Collaborations include Patti Smith, Nan Goldin & Jean-Luc Goddard.
