About the show
DESCRIPTION
From the ancient sound of the ney to the evolving voice of steel pan in hip hop and jazz spaces, Ancient Sounds x Future Focus explores how music carries memory, identity and future possibility.
On Friday 22 May 2026, SUPERORGANIC takes over Rich Mix, Shoreditch for Ancient Sounds x Future Focus — a one-night live experience marking National Buy a Musical Instrument Day through sound, culture and creative evolution.
Curated and produced by Fusion, SUPERORGANIC is a culture lab where hip hop, spoken word and jazz collide with boundary-pushing live experimentation, conscious lyricism and soul-deep grooves rooted in collaboration and community-building.
At the heart of the night is a rare musical dialogue between the ney — one of the world’s oldest instruments — and the steel pan, one of its newest acoustic instruments, brought together through hip hop as a bridge between heritage, identity and future possibility.
More than a performance, Ancient Sounds x Future Focus invites audiences to reconnect with music as a shared social force — celebrating creativity, participation and the transformative power of live expression.
