About the show
The songs of Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, aka Steely Dan, stood alone in 1970s rock; cryptic, pungent lyrics and sophisticated, detailed music deeply influenced by, in Becker and Fagen’s own words, “the best jazz players of the ‘50s and ‘60s”.
Steely Jazz re-examines the Dan canon, illuminating the singular melodies, rich harmonies and exploring the small jazz group possibilities of an incomparably opulent songbook.
Featuring well-known pieces (“Rikki Don’t Lose That Number”, “Josie”, "Reelin' in the Years"), alongside classic tracks and deep cuts from the masterpiece albums Aja, Gaucho, Countdown To Ecstasy, Katy Lied et al, Steely Jazz is a fresh, exciting celebration of two giants of 20th Century popular music.
Featuring - Chris Ingham
Chris has backed most of the top UK jazz stars and runs the popular band Rebop.
Harry Greene

One of the region's rising stars of the tenor sax, and a semi-finalist in the BBC's Young Jazz Musician of the Year, Harry plays with an assured and mature style beyond his years. Relishing the jazz tradion of improvisaon and commanding the respect of leading musicians, Harry's hard-swinging, mature style and bluesy vitality on a series of well-loved standards and jazz classics recalls the Blue Note saxophonists of the 1960's like Hank Mobley, Dexter Gordon and Stanley Turrentine.
Paul Higgs
Paul Higgs is renowned as one of the UK’s leading trumpet players and composers.
Geoff Gascoyne

Fluent electric and acoustic bass player, regarded as one of the finest players of his generation. From 2003-2008 he was the bass player with Jamie Cullum.
