UK PREMIERE SCREENING & PANEL DISCUSSION “THE GEOGRAPHY OF VIOLENCE” BY AWARD WINNING MAEVE MURPHY

As part of the lead up to the 15th Irish Film Festival London, Irish Film & TV UK, in partnership with Wise Women, are proud to present the UK Premiere screening of Maeve Murphy’s Critically acclaimed & award winning trilogy of 3 short films “THE GEOGRAPHY OF VIOLENCE”.

Fresh from its international film festival tour, the trilogy of three short films throw a light on the subject of gender-based violence.

Film Ireland commented:

“ Maeve’s voice is distinct, and unfaltering. She keeps her finger on the pulse, asking the audience to bear witness, one more time, in the hope that it will soon turn into the last time.”

The free to attend but bookable screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Q & A, which will include Jennie’s Law, the publicly-available register in the Republic of Ireland where those convicted of domestic violence against a partner or former partner are included. Wise Women are campaigning to make the same register available in the UK & Northern Ireland.

“I would like to take this opportunity to recognise and commend the important work being carried out by your organisation. The dedication and commitment of those involved are greatly appreciated, and I wish you every success with the event. Protecting victims of domestic abuse and holding perpetrators to account remains a priority for both me and my Department.” NAOMI LONG MLA, Minister of Justice, Northern Ireland

The films were nominated for Best Director & Best Actor at Ireland’s Fastnet Film F
