59 DeVille

With a strong blues & jazz vibe, 59 DeVille’s repertoire showcases a fresh take on bebop and blues standards. Formed out of a jam session at Ain’t Nothing But the Blues, the band features Russ Varakuta on guitar & vocals, Jeremy Robinson on trumpet & flugelhorn, Jamie Royan on double bass & bass guitar, and Dave Cee on drums.

New Yorker Russ Varakuta is a much in demand guitarist-vocalist on the London jazz and blues scenes. His guitar influences include Buddy Guy, and Jim Mullen, while his vocal style owes debts to Ray Charles, Merle Haggard, and Howling Wolf. Jeremy Robinson’s jazz trumpet influences range from Bix Beiderbecke and Louis Armstrong, through Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Lee Morgan and Wynton Marsalis. Jamie Royan plays bass guitar and double bass with George IV regulars ‘Jazz Mondays’, ‘WestSideJazz’, and ‘Vox Box & the Bass’ in addition to running regular jazz jams in Hammersmith and Acton. Drummer Dave Cee is a regular on the London jazz and blues scene. Among the material this exciting jazz and blues quartet will be performing on the night will be numbers such as “Route 66”, “Night Life”, “Gee Baby Ain’t I Good To You”, ”Work Song”, and “Evenin”.
