This (approx) 4 1/2 hour walk covers the Lower River Lea from Bromley by Bow to Leamouth via Canning Town. We then walk past the disused Bromley-by-Bow gasholders, some modern art installations along the River Lea, Cody Dock (part of the old Imperial Gas and Chemical Works), tales of boxing, murders & snakes at some former pubs inc the Anchor, the Royal Oak & the Ordnance Arms, the site of the Bridge House one of East London's most popular music pubs who helped launch the careers of Depeche Mode & Iron Maiden, remains of disused bridges across Bow Creek, the site of the Thames Ironworks who formed a works football team later to become West Ham United F.C., the lost industries of Leamouth and Trinity Buoy Wharf which contains London's only lighthouse.
Finishing up at what is left of the East India Docks. Once famous for it's trade in commodities such as tea, spices, indigo, silk and Persian carpets. Now the remains are used as a wildlife refuge. At the end, an optional trip to a local pub.
