About the show

Good Ship Comedy is heading to it's biggest and most spectacular venue yet. Brockwell Hall is a stunning Grade II-listed Georgian Mansion House set within the grounds of the historic Brockwell Park. And we're stuffing it full of the nations' funniest comedians.

Ed Gamble is a stand-up comedian, writer and actor. Ed has appeared on some of the UK’s most popular TV shows: Mock the Week (BBC Two), Man Down (Channel 4), Never Mind the Buzzcocks (BBC Two) and Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Two), as well as presenting radio shows for BBC Radio One and BBC Radio Four. He won the prestigious Chortle award for Best Compere in 2014.

Prior to this, Ed was co-writer and host of the iTunes-topping Peacock and Gamble Podcast as part of his double-act with comedian Ray Peacock. Peacock and Gamble also performed a sell-out UK tour in 2012, which was described as “a triumph of live comedy” (Fringe Guru) and “incessantly hilarious” (The Guardian).

Michelle Shaughnessy

Originally based in Toronto Michelle Shaughnessy fast made a name for herself across North America. She’s had numerous appearances on television and her debut album “You Know What You Did” hit number one on the iTunes comedy charts. Her sophomore album “Botoxic” received a coveted 5 star review from Toronto’s NOW Magazine.

In 2017 she was a finalist in Canada’s “Top Comic” competition and her audition video has since went viral, with 5 million views and climbing.

In 2018 her original scripted pilot was a finalist in Just For Laughs Stand Up and Pitch” sitcom contest.

Michelle is also an accomplished writer and actor with credits that span commercial, variety, scripted and unscripted television. Her acting work has been featured on Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix.

Newly based in London Michelle is becoming a fan favourite all over the UK. She appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2022. Her show “Be Your Own Daddy” was directed by Adam Hills. The Scotsman called it a “winning debut”.

Archie Maddocks is an exciting and award winning stand-up comedian, who is armed with a natural stage presence, and a 'winning smile'. He possesses an affable and likeable nature that immediately puts people at ease and has impressed both his peers and audiences with his charismatic, conversational style, hilarious observations and quick, acerbic wit.

He also makes the perfect host to any event, having had experience hosting a variety of different comedy nights, quizzes and talent shows.

He's a sharp writer and playwright who has had his work produced by some of the best theatres in the UK (including Orange Tree Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith, Bush Theatre and The Royal Court) and internationally too (New Light Theatre in New York!).

Ben Van Der Velde

Ben Van der Velde is a stand-up comedian, actor, improviser and presenter, who, over the past few years, has spread joy and nonsense to all four corners of the British Isles, as well as Greece, Switzerland, Estonia, Latvia, Finland and Norway.

He is a regular host and act for respected British comedy clubs such as The Comedy Store, The Stand, Komedia, The Backyard, Covent Garden Comedy Club, Outside the Box, the Frog & Bucket, Comedy Club 4 Kids, Off the Kerb and The Comedy Café, as well as hosting stages for Bestival, Festival No.6 and Sunday Papers Live. He has also founded the Church of the Holy Kazoo with comedy legend Mark Thomas, walked the entire London Underground network to raise money for The Refugee Council and even took part in experiments at The Royal Society that revealed him to have the most infectious laugh of any human, rat or monkey.

Ben is a regular performer at the Edinburgh Festival, where he has performed four critically-acclaimed shows: Chain Letter, Strudelhead, Barbarians and Sidekick. In 2016 his most recent show received 5 and 4 star reviews, whilst several of jokes made it into lists of ‘Best Joke at the Fringe’ compiled by The Scotsman, i-News and The Huffington Post.

Ben has amassed a few residencies as an MC; most notably at Really Lovely Comedy and the legendary Free Beer Show, where he has featured alongside acts such as Omid Djalili, Reginald D. Hunter, Sarah Millican, Jim Jefferies and Andrew Maxwell . Ben is currently helmsman of the Chortle Award-winning Good Ship Comedy Club in Camden Town, where he can be seen spinning webs of nonsense and good humour every Monday from 8pm.
