About the show
A collective tribute marking a century since the birth of iconic saxophonist John Coltrane, reflecting his enduring influence across generations, geographies, and musical traditions.
‘This quintet will honor Coltrane’s compositions as a springboard to explore and express ourselves. We do not seek to recreate, but rather to create in the spirit of Coltrane.’ – Joe Lovano
Six leading voices in modern jazz come together for a rare collective set. Saxophonists Joe Lovano and Melissa Aldana bring a deep connection to the post-Coltrane lineage longside a focus on narrative and identity. Pianist Nduduzo Makhathini draws on South African musical and spiritual traditions to shape a highly personal language. Bassist Linda May Han Oh and drummer Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts complete the group, grounding the music with clarity, depth and decades of experience.
