About the show
Pernicious Anaemia Society (PAS) member / volunteer Support Group Coordinator and singer-songwriter - Benita Johnson - will be staging a concert at Friends Meeting House, Lewes, East Sussex. The event is designed to combine a performance of live music with an opportunity to find out more about the work of PAS. Benita will talk a bit about her experience of Pernicious Anaemia and attendees are invited to ask questions and share experiences / access support in the break. Donations for PAS will be appreciated but are not an entry requirement. The event runs until 4pm and there will be a break for refreshments half-way through.
Benita’s music has been described as “not folk, not rock or pop – it’s Benita Johnson doing her thing and it’s beautiful” (Malcolm Carter, Pennyblack Music Reviews) and sits generally beneath the Alt-Country, Folk-Rock, Americana banners. Her dynamic delivery creates performances that mix it up from stomping audience participation to down-tempo folk / blues that will just grab at your heartstrings. “Her songwriting is top quality stuff … I’d be surprised if you’re not convinced you’re in the presence of an unsung genius” (David Kidman, NetRhythms Reviews).
This event may be of interest to PAS members, PA / B12 deficiency patients, clinicians, medical students, support workers, carers and, of course, folks who just like a bit of live music!
