The Awesome Dawson Band

Dawson Smith is well known on the UK Blues / Americana scene as the high energy singer / songwriter / frontman of The Dissenters and as a highly regarded songwriter with five critically acclaimed, all original, solo albums to his name, all attracting glowing reviews and several of Dawson’s songs have been covered by other artists (James Oliver, Blues Swamp Southern, Bo’weevil Brothers and more).

Now comes the The Awesome Dawson Band. Following the loss of his wife, Dawson took a two year break from writing and performing and retired the Dissenters name. The Awesome Dawson Band came about from a chance meeting with Nashville singer / songwriter Ridge Banks who was on a short UK tour that was a collaboration between Ridge and a backing band made up of top players based around Leicester (Dawson’s adopted home town).

Matt Keneson is a Texas born singer-songwriter who was originally inspired by artists like George Jones, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristopherson, and later found inspiration from the new breed of troubadour country artists - Lyle Lovett, Joe Ely and Steve Earle who all brought a more modern, harder guitar sound.

Following on in the tradition of those artists, The Matt Keneson Band weaves together classic twangy guitar sounds and driving rhythms to bring you great original country tales of life, love and relationships.
