Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen and Dutch pianist Harmen Fraanje join us for an evening of spellbinding music, drawn from their impeccable debut duo album Touch of Time.
An initial performance in 2019 to mark ECM’s 50th anniversary proved to be the spark for an ongoing and fruitful partnership. Delicate melodies and textures flow between two musicians who are deeply in tune with nuances of tone-shadings and the detailed development of a musical idea.
In both freely improvised forms and carefully wrought themes, their instruments connect gracefully, picking up and finishing each other’s phrases.
Contemporary Norwegian jazz trumpeter, renowned for his distinctive, flute-like sound on the trumpet, inspired by the sound of the Japanese shakuhachi flute. A serial collaborator, Henriksen has been releasing works with seminal labels ECM Records and Rune Grammofon since 2001. Over the past two decades Henriksen has been receiving critical acclaim across the Jazz world including “Best Live Shows of 2013" from All About Jazz.
