Alan Barnes Octet presents 'Copperfield'. This Dickensian Jazz Suite takes the audience through the characters and scenes of Dickens’ favourite novel ‘David Copperfield’. After each sketch, presented with Alan Barnes’ charismatic and engaging humour, eight virtuoso musicians will bring the characters and scenes vividly to life. One of the UK’s greatest and most versatile jazz musicians, winning numerous awards, Alan Barnes is also an outstanding composer and arranger, with two previous, brilliant jazz suites playing to packed houses in the EFG London Jazz Festival.

Alan Barnes Octet
Alan Barnes is a prolific international performer, composer, arranger, bandleader and touring soloist. He is best known for his work on clarinet, alto and baritone sax, where he combines a formidable virtuosity with a musical expression and collaborative spirit that have few peers. His range and brilliance have made him a “first call” for studio and live work since his precocious arrival on the scene more than thirty years ago. The octet will be playing straight ahead arrangements of well known jazz compositions as well as excerpts from some of Alan's Jazz Suites: The Marbella suite, The Sherlock Holmes Suite and A Jazz Christmas Carol included in the sets.
