About the show
Join us for an evening of protest songs from local musicians and songwriters to commemorate 100 years of campaigns since the 1926 General Strike. Covering events both historical and current through traditional and original protest songs, this gig celebrates the many ways we have used music to campaign for a better world.
The evening's line up includes:
Nasty Fishmonger
Fist-raising hardcore folk from Bristol. Nasty Fishmonger play anti-austerity anthems with a camaraderie and charm that is hard to resist. Formed in 2018, they have since become firm festival favourites after blistering sets at Boomtown, Shambala, Bearded Theory and more.
The Swing Rioters
A riotously energetic Cotswold-based folk-punk band that "punks up" traditional folk songs and "folks up" more modern tunes. The group is named after a series of rural disturbances in England in 1830 in response to the threat of mechanisation on the livelihoods agricultural workers.
...and more to be added!
