After recently stepping out with his debut solo single When You’re Young, Dave McCabe and special guest, James Jay Lewis, are going back on the road together.
Best known as the voice and songwriter behind The Zutons, McCabe’s solo work’s already made a strong impression. When You’re Young has been very well received and it’s already a firm live favourite.
McCabe’s set draws from material throughout his rich writing career. From Zutons classics to songs he wrote for other artists and glimpses of his new music.
Jay Lewis is a perfect fit for the bill. A Liverpool-born multi-instrumentalist, he’s worked with Cast and The La’s over the years and he’s been steadily building his own following. With songs that carry a classic, melodic British songwriting style, and his outstanding musicianship, the two team up together both on their own and each other’s music.
Earlier this year, McCabe and Lewis played a run of shows together that quickly gathered momentum, with packed rooms and a great response each night. No doubt it’ll be the same when they play Gateshead this December.

For a decade he was the frontman and main songwriter in seminal Liverpool psych-pop legends The Zutons. Garnering both critical and perhaps surprising commercial success along the way, including penning one of the biggest songs of the millennium so far ('Valerie', a hit both for The Zutons and also for Mark Ronson with Amy Winehouse’s ubiquitous cover version).
James Jay Lewis
Self-taught multi-instrumentalist, James Jay Lewis has graced some of the biggest stages across the globe as part of three of the biggest bands to come out of Liverpool (apart from you know who)! Performing in The La's, playing bass for the band Cast and is currently the lead guitarist in The Zutons.
