A Bold New Gathering for Folk Music in the Colne Valley
Red Deer Club is proud to present the New Folk Festival, a one-day event taking place on Saturday, 28th March 2026 at Slaithwaite Civic Hall. This exciting new initiative brings together a vibrant mix of artists from across the UK folk scene, celebrating the rich diversity, experimentation, and storytelling at the heart of folk music today.

Angeline Morrison
Angeline Morrison is a vocalist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and morris dancer based in Cornwall, who believes in the inherent beauty of sad songs. Angeline?s homespun sonic aesthetic, deeply emotive writing and layered vocal harmonies are all stitched together to make small, tender, often dark stories in song.

Burd Ellen
burd ellen is a project featuring Debbie Armour (Alasdair Roberts, Green Ribbons) and Gayle Brogan (Pefkin, Electroscope). The group uses traditional song to explore and evoke dark landscapes and deep stories. Innovative instrumentation, drone and sound-wash to support detailed vocal work to create a unique sonic atmosphere.
