Finland's Queen of Slide Guitar brings her 50th Birthday Rock & Blues UK Tour to The Old Brewery Store, Faversham on Friday 16th October 2026, with South African-born dark blues artist Ross Harding opening with a solo acoustic set.
Erja Lyytinen is one of the most decorated guitarists on the international blues-rock circuit. She won the European Blues Award for Best Guitarist in 2017, was ranked number two in Total Guitar's "10 Best Guitarists Now" poll and fourteenth in Guitar World's "30 Best Blues Guitarists Today" alongside Clapton, Bonamassa, Derek Trucks and Buddy Guy. She was the first woman to study electric guitar as a major at Helsinki's Sibelius Academy, and has since released twelve studio albums and played over 100 headline shows a year across Europe.
In 2018 Carlos Santana called her on stage in front of 20,000 people in Helsinki and gave her a new nickname — Lightning, after Lightnin' Hopkins. "It was from the future," he said, "and I like the future."
For this birthday tour she has hand-picked a setlist spanning her whole career, alongside material from her latest album Smell the Roses (2025) — described by Guitarist Magazine as her heaviest and most riff-laden record to date.
The Old Brewery Store sits within the Shepherd Neame brewery site, Britain's oldest working brewery, founded 1698. Capacity 250.

Erja Lyytinen is Finland's Queen of the slide guitar. She's a blues artist who doesn't limit herself to the blues, being a songwriter, storyteller & performer who transcend the genre's clichés. The blues, in Erja's hands, sounds honest, fresh and hip. She plays the blues, but mixes it with elements of jazz, folk and even pop.
