About the show
Join songwriter Lou Mclean as she leads a creative workshop designed to teach participants about Scotland’s rich history of women songwriters, and explore what 'women's work' means to you. From the waulking songs of the 1800s to present day, working class women have been underrepresented in Scottish songwriting history.
This workshop is designed to empower people, women and girls in particular, to tell their stories through song, and follow in the footsteps of our unsung heroines.
This event provides a space to share ideas and build community through songwriting and paper collage tasks.
After the workshop, there will be a acoustic performance from Lou’s newly released debut album: ‘outline of a girl’.
Featuring
Lou McLean
Lou McLean is a singer/songwriter who sprang from the GRS Edinburgh collective. Taking her place as the riot grrrl scene’s token pop princess, she writes darkly comedic feminist bangers, always focussing on lyric & melody. Her musical journey has been as eclectic as her influences, spanning genre and ignoring convention.
