About the show
Multi-award winning standup with a story of love, loss, and a Christmas night miracle.
'A master of the genre' ★★★★ One4Review 2024
'The best show at this year's Fringe. Star in waiting. He is untouchable' ★★★★ The Times.
'Few have been as deeply moving as Nathan Cassidy. A powerful force on stage.' The Scotsman 2025
Multi-award winning standup comic tells the story of how this year's Ashes series changed his life. Last Christmas Day, Nathan Cassidy is alone in a basement, feverish and half-drunk, watching England getting destroyed in the Ashes. But as the Ashes slips further out of reach, something strange begins to happen... a surreal journey of survival, redemption and artistic hope.
From the award-winning star of 25 solo shows and one of comedy’s most original voices, this show is a hilarious and heart-opening journey through cricket, collapse, and the strange magic of Christmas. And in an era of viral crowd-work clips and throwaway punchlines, Nathan Cassidy asks a bigger question: can stand-up still be art? Can it offer hope? Can it move us? What stories are worth telling? And just as in all the best stories, like the ones his grandad used to tell him as a kid, this one might only be half true.
13 Best Show wins/nominations in UK Comedy Festivals since 2019. Star of 3 Amazon Prime specials, BBC Radio 5 Live, and million downloaded podcast Daily Notes. Catch his other show Ewwww! at the Fringe too.

Kate Copstick, The Scotsman '
'Well-crafted, very original and very funny… one of the most original show endings I have seen. Clever, articulate… sometime scathing and cynical, but also touching and hopeful. Highly recommended.’ FringeReview.co.uk
