About the show
On Saturday 21st November, 6pm, at St Andrew’s Church in Furnace Green, Crawley, The Phoenix Choir of Crawley will perform a choral concert on the theme of PEACE. Musical Director George Salmon will conduct the choir and a professional instrumental ensemble including strings, trumpets, flute, percussion and keyboard.
The main work, 'The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace' by Sir Karl Jenkins, was first performed in April 2000. It quickly became a favourite on classical radio stations and was voted Britain’s No.1 favourite in the 2026 Classic FM Hall of Fame.
Blowing in the Wind by Bob Dylan, John Lennon’s Imagine, selected songs from ‘Freedom! The Power of Song’ by Alexander L’Estrange, and other works on the peace theme will also feature.
Doors open at 5.30pm, for a 6pm start. There will be a short interval when wine and soft drinks will be on sale (cash or card payments). Phoenix Choir of Crawley is a mixed voice group who sing a varied repertoire. We perform three or four concerts a year using professional instrumentalists and soloists. We perform a wide range of music, from the great choral classics to folk songs, spirituals, songs from musicals and Christmas repertoire.
