Harriet Walter brings George Eliot to bold and dramatic life, through Eliot’s novels, letters, journals, poetry and journalism.
In tune with George Eliot’s radicalism, David Le Page has devised a dazzlingly creative music programme that features 21st century female singer-songwriters including Kate Bush, Florence Welch, PJ Harvey and Joan Armatrading. Orchestra of the Swan performs with acclaimed singer-songwriter, SuRie. Internationally renowned for classical, pop and musical theatre, SuRie also won the Offie for Lead Performance in a Musical in 2024 for her portrayal of Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun.
Coventry played a huge part in Eliot’s life, and this performance has been commissioned by St Mary’s Guildhall, Coventry. George Eliot is said to have set the courtroom scene in Adam Bede in their 700 year-old Great Hall.

Orchestra of the Swan is an innovative British chamber orchestra which, under the artistic direction of David Le Page, is known for its unconventional programming, groundbreaking concert films and willingness to blur the lines between musical genres. Its critically acclaimed mixtape albums - Timelapse, Labyrinths and Echoes - have gained more than 13 million streams worldwide and include imaginative new arrangements of music by David Bowie, The Smiths, Brian Eno, The Velvet Underground, Radiohead, Joy Division, Frank Zappa and A Winged Victory for the Sullen. The orchestra regularly works with artists from the worlds of folk, rock, jazz, tango and klezmer recognising that the traditional barriers between musical styles are increasingly irrelevant. Our latest album Earthcycle highlights the issue of climate change and features a new version of The Four Seasons by Jazz/Baroque composer David Gordon and traditional folk songs performed by Jackie Oates.
