About the show
Singer, songwriter, cellist, composer and MOBO-nominee Ayanna Witter-Johnson is a captivating one-woman orchestra.
Blending classical, jazz, reggae, soul and R&B, she performs with virtuosic flair, using her cello as both rhythmic anchor and emotional compass. A second-generation Jamaican born in Britain, her work celebrates her heritage, culture and identity through music that is both deeply rooted and boundlessly inventive.
Ayanna has been championed by icons from Gilles Peterson to Jools Holland and has collaborated and toured with musical legends including Andrea Bocelli and Peter Gabriel.
She releases New Roots, her first solo album in three years this September, imbuing her exploratory, soul-leaning sound with the colour of jazz and groundedness of folk storytelling.
