About the show
Seven days… Seven events giving back… It was all building up to this. Come join Xpress Fest for our grand finale of exceptional local music talent, all to raise funds for vital mental health charities, one of which is Mind Your Music whose founders you may also know as Sarah and Elliott, hosts of our open mic night.
Express Fest is Bristol’s newest grassroots music and comedy festival running from 11 May to 17 May. The line-up at the Hen is:
Paul Antony Brookshaw AKA Tall Paul
The man who puts himself into self-expression.
Feud
This funky, fun 5-piece is part of the Bristol Youth Studios project created by Bristol Beacon for 13 – 18-year-old singers and musicians.
Band of Buggers
A chaotic affair of silliness, slapstick and singing accompanied by a uniquely bluesy whisky sound.
Pilot Scheme
Earworms and mind treats from the Bristol story-song guy and a nice line in audience participation.
Odessa Steps
The West Country’s observant tunesmiths that blend catchy folk with other flavours.
Bethany Jane
Bethany is Bethany: a singer-songwriter of immense emotional power with a gorgeous voice.
The Open Mic Surgeons
Pilot Scheme and buddies become The Open Mic Surgeons in a brassy voiced romp from New Orleans of the 30s to the Talking Heads era of New York.
Sam Elliott
We’re privileged to host the debut performance by very talented Bristol songwriter Sam Elliott. Expect beautifully melodic, poetic song in the mould of Waterboys, Doves and Prefab Sprouts.
