About the show
Trombonist Joe Bradford returns to the Be-Bop Club after his last sold out appearance. This time bringing another fantastic quintet, playing a collection of his own compositions along with some hard bop tunes. Harking back to the 50’s and 60’s of East Coast Jazz, the group will be bringing intensity, intricate arrangements and plenty of warm lyricism to match. Drawing inspiration from artists like the Jazz Messengers, Jackie Mclean and Kenny Dorham.
Trombonist Joe Bradford is a familiar face on the Bristol scene. Having grown up playing in local big bands, Joe studied in the USA for a year, under the tutelage of Steve Davis (Art Blakey, Chick Corea), and other greats. Since then Joe returned to Bristol as a professional player. You may have seen him playing with the Tammy Payne Quintet, the Jonny Bruce Organ Sextet, the Dockside Latin Orchestra or Soma Soma, and he is now also running a popular series of jazz workshops.
