About the show

Brighton's Night House and Sekinue both have new single coming out. Join them in at the unitarian church celebrating "A wave that meets the sky" and "Sunflowers" .

Featuring - Night House

Brighton-based four piece Night House formed during the summer of 2013 as the touring band for lead singer Nick Williams’s solo record. Holed up in their Brighton studio they started work on demo material, drawing influences from the vocal harmony work of Crosby, Stills & Nash, the song writing of Tom Waits, Iron and Wine and Rufus Wainwright as well as the atmospheric/electronic work of Radiohead, James Blake and Mew. These early demos caught the attention of producer Jamie Bell (Metronomy - The English Riviera Assistant producer) and recording started soon after at Metropolis Studios London. Jamie and Night House worked through the early months of 2014 aiming to combine the warmth of early seventies Laurel Canyon records with a modern electronic edge.

Night House have supported touring acts such as Ben Howard, Willy Mason, Krystle Warren and The Magic Numbers. Live, they build textures of acoustic/electric drums and guitars, four part vocal harmonies, double bass, Fender Rhodes piano and mandolin, with band members swapping instruments throughout to create an energetic yet haunting performance.

Sekinue

Sekinue (aka Fior Anderson) is a multi-instrumentalist singer songwriter who found connection with the harp just four years ago. As well as playing with local folktronica band Greenness, they have been steadily building up a following on the London and Brighton scene since 2019.

Captivating audiences by combining their immersive harp dream-scapes with raw, dark lyricism; drawing from the intensity of Elliott Smith and the melodic charm of Belle and Sebastian. Sekinue creates songs that invite us to sit with our vulnerabilities, forming experiences that are as haunting as they are beautiful.
