About the show
On Saturday 5th December we are excited to welcome back multi award-winning powerhouse R&B artist Alice Armstrong and her band - featuring rising start of the music scene Greg Coulson on keys - to JJJ!
Multi-award-winning artist Alice Armstrong delivers electrifying, sold-out shows across the UK, Europe and the USA. Combining modern sounds and sentiment with a wide range of traditional roots genres, all backed by a world-class band, her performances are described as a ‘party’ by fans and press, leaving audiences laughing, crying and dancing all the way home. This year alone, Armstrong was a top 3 nominee at the Jazz FM Awards 2026 and winner of Vocalist of the Year 2026 and Contemporary Artist of the Year for the third consecutive year at the UK Blues Awards, entering her into the UK Blues Hall Of Fame. Armstrong’s songs are regularly played on BBC Radio 2!
Alice credits Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Donnie Hathaway, Amy Winehouse, Peggy Lee and Dinah Washington to be just some of her musical influences, peppering her performances with her trademark sense of humour garnered from the likes of the Goon Show, French & Saunders and Monty Python.
Don't miss what promises to be another great night of live music from Alice and her band!
Featuring - Alice Armstrong

’Prodigiously talented … Armstrong’s voice set the hairs on the back of my neck at full attention – I cannot remember the last time I heard such a purity of tone and a depth or range in a youngster’ - Music-News.com
‘Really loving that vocal!‘ - Craig Charles
'Nice pipes, Miss Armstrong' - Phill Jupitus
Anyone who has heard Alice Armstrong live will tell you that few can match her diversity, stage presence and range. Previous works with bands such as Crossfire and a co-written album with the Stevie Watts Organ Trio has seen her in the top 20 IBBA albums of 2020 and secured multiple nominations at the 2021 UK Blues Awards, including 'Emerging Artist' and 'Band of the Year'. Alice started 2022 with bang with a sold out launch gig of her6 piece band at the Tuesday Night Music Club, creating a new acoustic duo with multi-award winning musician Matt Long (Catfish, Matt Long & the Revenant Ones) and being nominated for the UK Blues Awards Vocalist of the Year.
Venerable, red-raw lyrics are delivered in a constantly evolving, sultry blend of Soul, Blues, R&B, Rock and Funk, peppered with a wry sense of humour. Likened to both Amy Winehouse and Janis Joplin, Alice draws her inspiration from artists such as Aretha Franklin, Dinah Washington, Ray Lamontagne & BB King.
