About the show
Live Comedy is back in Bingham.
After the departure of the much loved and missed Ian Whitcombe (don't worry, he's still alive - just living in Scotland), previous headliner Stevie Gray has stepped in with his Flat Cap Comedy brand to help resurrect this sleeping beauty of a comedy night.
Join host Stevie Gray, as he brings 3 headline level acts, a pro MC and an up and coming rising star from the local scene, to tickle your funny bones!
Christian Reilly
Topping the bill is Christian Reilly, a musical comedy genius, who performs the most hilarious comedy songs on his guitar. He is cool, current and seriously funny and performs very funny, catchy tunes… hysterical material. Not to be missed, once seen, never forgotten!
“If you’re a fan of Bill Bailey or Rich Hall, you’re probably a Christian Reilly fan already” -The Guardian
Peter Brush
A highly distinctive performer and deft writer of finely crafted jokes, Peter Brush unassumingly takes the stage with his slight bespectacled frame and scruffy hair, before consummately conquering it with an arsenal of razor sharp quirky one-liners and peerlessly original routines, all delivered in an amusingly awkward fashion.
Peter performs at all the major clubs across the UK as well as doing shows in Budapest, Switzerland and Norway. Formerly a BBC New Comedy Award finalist, he has written for several BBC Radio 4 shows and was the support act for Alexei Sayle’s most recent tour.
Other acts he has supported on tour include Jonathan Pie, Jason Manford, Fern Brady, Arthur Smith and Paul Sinha.
‘compellingly hilarious.. first-class gag writing… an original and achingly funny voice’ – Chortle
‘I love Peter Brush, what a comic’ - Jason Manford
‘unique observations and connections that stand-ups crave’ – The Guardian
‘He’s a great comic’ - BBC Radio 4 Saturday Review
Ben Briggs
A professional comedian for over 15 years, Ben has worked as both an act and compere for some of the biggest clubs in the UK and abroad.
He is brash, honest, razor sharp and at times dark but always very, very funny. Ben has appeared at the Leicester, Nottingham, Birmingham and Edinburgh Comedy festivals. In 2015 he was finalist in the English Comedian of the Year.
'a nice cynical sneer' - beyondthejoke.co.uk
'inherently appealing style' - chortle.co.uk
Kate Vincent
Originally from Luton but residing in Newark, Kate burst on to the Flat Cap Comedy radar when she told Stevie at a gig (when she was in the audience) that she has been learning and training to be a comic. Stevie asked if she'd like to have a go that night & Kare subsequently blew the roof off! A real star in the making.
Stevie Gray (MC)
The night will be compered by Stevie Gray: with a wonderful mix of Crowd Work, Audience Interaction, Music, Stories and Jokes.
