About the show
Arvon’s Writing House at Totleigh Barton, in Devon, is throwing open its doors on July 18th for a special afternoon for writers. It’s a chance to get an exclusive behind the scenes glimpse and to meet the Arvon team and Word Kitchen, the South West spoken word community organisation. We’ll be joined by novelist Amanda Craig as part of the event who will talk about her writing life and we end with an Open Mic.
Open mic spots can be booked via Word Kitchen's David Lloyd at sidmouthdavid@outlook.com
The event begins at 3pm with refreshments in the House before a tour of the house and grounds with time to browse in the lovely library spaces. Or hang out in the lovely dining room area and lounge space on the ground floor.
At 3.45pm we will go to the Barn for the first half of a two-part event.
Kerensa Wilton, Director, Totleigh Barton will welcome people and talk about Arvon's work. Pippa Marriott, from Word Kitchen will be joined by novelist Amanda Craig, who has a home in Devon and whose latest novel High and Low was recently published by Abacus Books.
Amanda will talk about her writing life, her long career as a writer, reviewer and critic and the lessons she would like to pass on. There will be time to ask questions and to get insights into what makes for longevity in the publishing world.
At 4.45pm a sweet or savoury cream tea will be available to buy along with other refreshments before we reconvene for a Word Kitchen Open Mic back in The Barn at 5.15pm.
The open mic will run until 6.30pm when the event will conclude.
There is parking on site but please do car share if you can with friends.
