About the show
A freewheeling instrumental four-piece: Starlings weave soulful melody and dynamic improvisation around their powerhouse Funk, Latin and dance grooves.
The Starlings are from Bristol, who love to play Funk, Jazz and Latin with high energy and groove. They play a mixture of their originals and covers of classic jazz like Harry Belafonte and Bud Powell, all the way through to straight-ahead electronic dance tunes such as Louis Cole and St Vincent.
The band features:
Emma Holbrook (Drums / Stick In the Wheel, Michele Stodart solo project of The Magic Numbers)
Ruth Hammond (Brass Junkies, Hopkins Hammond Trio, Morcheeba)
Sophie Stockham (6161, Cut Capers, Orfic)
Lisa Cherian (Boy George, Dockside Latin Orchestra).
And special guest John Pratt of The Heavy joins on sax.
