Bath Opera presents Bizet’s iconic masterpiece, Carmen, performed at The Roper Theatre, Bath, from 19–21 February 2026 at 7:00 PM each evening.

This vibrant new production brings to life the passion, danger, and unforgettable music of one of the world’s most loved operas. Set in 19th-century Seville, Carmen follows the magnetic and fiercely independent Carmen whose fatal charm leads soldier Don José into a whirlwind of obsession and jealousy, ultimately spiralling toward a dramatic and tragic conclusion.

Featuring some of opera’s most famous melodies – including the Habanera and the Toreador Song – this production blends powerful storytelling with Bath Opera’s tradition of accessible, high-quality performance.

Bath’s leading community opera company returns with a cast of outstanding local and regional singers, accompanied by a full orchestra. Sung in English with surtitles, this atmospheric staging offers an ideal introduction for newcomers and a fresh interpretation for seasoned opera lovers.
