About the show
Winter Wonderband are a chamber folk quartet with Saul Rose on melodeon (Faustus, War Horse, Waterson Carthy); Maclaine Colston on hammered dulcimer (Pressgang, Kings of Calicutt); Beth Porter (SpellSongs, Bookshop Band) on Cello and Bath singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jennifer Crook on harp and guitar.
With this beautiful combination of instruments, varied lead and harmony vocals, they play winter and festive themed music, traditional & modern, including original songs & settings by Jennifer. Collectively, they have played together in different formats for 30 years and that closeness shines through, with WWB formed in 2012. Their debut album Joy Illimited (from the Darkling Thrush) was released November 2025, recorded and produced by Stuart Bruce. Illimited - unbounded & infinite joy.

Winter Wonderband formed in 2012 and has a super 4-piece line up, of Saul Rose on melodeon (Faustus, Wayward, Transports), Maclaine Colston (Kings of Calicutt, Pressgang) on hammered dulcimer and percussion, Beth Porter on cello and recorder (Bookshop Band, Spell Songs, Wayward) and Jennifer Crook on harp and guitar (Snow Patrol, Cythara).
With tight 4-part vocal harmonies to weave together the beautiful instrumental combinations, they play a warming mix of traditional folk, modern classics, and original material. This makes for a wonderfully relaxed and charming evening of Winter music, not just for Christmas, but across the winter season.
