About the show
Introducing jazz vocalist Camille Rose; A spellbinding live performer, narrator, and improviser, born and raised in London. Through storytelling rooted in the past and shaped by modern perception, Camille rekindles a deep love for the jazz vocal greats while continuing to push the music forward into new ground, bridging jazz tradition and modernity with control and freedom.
A graduate of the prestigious Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Camille has collaborated with some of the UK’s finest jazz musicians and brings over a decade of performance experience to stages including Ronnie Scott’s, the 606 Club, and Pizza Express Dean Street, where she performed sold-out show's for the EFG London Jazz Festival.
Camille and her band perform her latest EP release; SUNSHOWERS- inspired by, and celebrating jazz legend Billie Holiday, as well as other favourite arrangements from within the jazz diaspora.
SUNSHOWERS:
Taking us through the various shades of Billie’s skilful story-telling, ‘SUNSHOWERS’ three tracks offer a fresh perspective of a woman’s navigation of her psyche; her sexuality, and her morality. A blend of old and new jazz; ‘SUNSHOWERS’ combines the rich legacy and tradition of late 30’s swing jazz, with contemporary rhythms, techniques and interpretations.
