About the show

The award-winning Dyad Productions return to Alton Arts Festival following the hilarious success of 'Lady Susan' at AAF2024, this time bringing Virginia Woolf's blazingly intelligent 1928 exploration of women, creativity and intellectual freedom to life in a sharp, witty and utterly contemporary one-woman performance.

Rebecca Vaughan takes Woolf's argument – that poverty and sexual inequality have long shaped what women are permitted to think, write and become – and makes it feel urgent, funny and startlingly relevant to right now.

Part literary history, part feminist provocation, part one-woman show, this is Woolf as you've never quite experienced her: a twenty-first century take on a pre-TED talk that was already decades ahead of its time.

Come prepared to be amused, challenged and – quite possibly – changed.
