Professor Vanessa's 20 Performing Wonders
Professor Vanessa Toulmin is Director of the National Fairground Archive at the University of Sheffield and Chair in Early Film and Popular Entertainment. She is a leading authority on Victorian entertainment and film, and has completed extensive research on travelling show people.
Professor Toulmin will examine the relationship between the world of live entertainment culture and early film produced in the 1900s. Through this talk, visitors will get to peek at the headless lady if they dare, marvel at the girl in the goldfish bowl and feel the power of Electra, the 27,000 volt girl!
