A thousand years ago a volcanic rock in the Atlantic became a haven for fleeing Vikings. It also became a republic. The first democracy in Europe and a fount of wisdom. The first settlers called it Iceland and Night Light Theatre went there in search of stories.

In Rift Zone Night Light present a world in the grip of powerful forces, teetering on the edge of the explosive tectonic rift that first gave it birth.

It is election night and a new political force rips through Iceland like seething magma: an ancient man with failing sight drags himself to the lake with a hoard of silver, a dancing troll sings hymns of love; a woman knits herself new legs and a poet must write the verse of his life to save Alfa, a young engineer plagued by shadows.

Interweaving saga and folklore, music and visual theatre, Night Light uncover the soul of a nation. Into this heady mix, Night Light throw a madcap loafer, a millstone that grinds gold and a giant whose heart is locked away in the egg of a duck...
