Whistle
His mother was killed by his father, when Martin was nine years old. Through poetry, pictures, and striking visuals, Whistle explores themes of loss, forgiveness, adoption, identity, and family with insight and gentle humour.
Never mawkish, Whistle tells a unique coming-of-age story, which is courageous, profoundly honest, spellbinding, and insightful; and at the same time, entertaining and uplifting.
Whistle was shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Award and won the 2013 Saboteur Award for Best Spoken Word Show. Martin Figura is the author of pamphlets Arthur and Boring the A*se off Young People.
