The True Cost of Cheap Meat

Do you really know what’s in the food you eat? Do you want to? At what cost do you want meat, milk, and eggs? Is the supermarket supply of cheaper farm products a good enough reason for mega-farming and keeping animals on an industrial scale? And what about the effects of large-scale farming on the environment, ecology, and countryside? Most of us like fresh farm food at a reasonable price. This is a decidedly tricky topic.

CEO of Compassion in World Farming, winner of a Radio 4 Farming Award and an Observer Ethical Award, wildlife enthusiast Philip Lymbery, with award-winning journalist Isabel Oakshott, is the author of Farmageddon – the true cost of cheap meat, a ground-breaking, eye-opening global examination of mega-farming, its products, and its true human costs.
