Nothing Changes
The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists of 2014.
Robert Tressell's classic work provides both the inspiration and the plot for a new piece of theatre exploring "austerity Britain".
Featuring songs by The House Martins and Stiff Little Fingers, Nothing Changes explores the inequalities in society which still exist 100 years after Tressell's classic book was published.
Set in 21st century Britain, Nothing Changes follows the lives of a group of painters and decorators trying to survive. It explores the care that modern society gives or doesn't give to its people, immigration, press influence and the lack of understanding from those at the top of the ladder towards those at the bottom.
The play highlights that despite what some may believe and regardless of the introduction of benefit systems, the National Health Service and other welfare, the disparity in society has not changed and has in many ways worsened.
