The Cotswold Players

Shakespeare’s famous tragedy of two warring families from whose ‘fatal loins’, ‘a pair of start-cross’d lovers take their lives’ is given a new twist in this production. The action is brought up-to-date with the use of TV news flashes, highly technological lighting and exciting film-like sequences that complement and enhance the amazing language of the original.

The play’s heady mix of passion and violence interwoven with flashes of wit makes for an unforgettable evening at the theatre.

Audiences have been moved and overwhelmed by one of the world’s great plays for over 400 years. Now is your chance to see the Cotswold Players’ exciting new version, which has the additional cachet of being part of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s prestigious Open Stages project. From the hundreds of amateur groups in the country, only those which could demonstrate really ambitious and original ideas have been selected.
