Shirley Temple Tea and Talk
Join us for a fascinating insight into the life and work of the former childhood star Shirley temple who passed away this year at the age of 85.
Born in Santa Monica in 1928 and encouraged by her mother Gertrude, Shirley learned to dance whilst she was still a toddler and after being spotted by a talent spotter appeared in her first one reelers entitled Baby Burlesques.
Shirley with her adorable charm and blonde curls which were styled by her mother so that there was exactly 56 curls, shot to stardom after her first feature in 1934 when she appeared in ‘Baby Take A Bow’. Shirley finally retired from films in 1950 at the age of 21 and returned to the spotlight in later years as a politician and diplomat.
With a light afternoon tea served in the art deco Café Lounge, Plaza Director: David Blake will host a warm heated and informative presentation about the star of todays big screen feature.
