Oh What A Lovely War
Now staged to commemorate 100 years since its start, this show summarises and comments on the events of the First World War, using popular songs of the time.
The diplomatic manoeuvrings of those in authority are parodied by setting them in a fantasy location far from the horror of the trenches.
Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop developed the original production through improvisation and it was premiered at the Theatre Royal Stratford East to rave audience reaction over 50 years ago.
