Nicky Spence

Nicky Spence returns to perform in a concert celebrating youth with some songs that inspired him as an even younger man and inspired him to take up singing as a career. With pianist Julia Cobby, their programme will include works by Britten, Finzi, Quilter, Burns and Jonathan Dove's Out of Winter.

Scottish born tenor Nicky Spence is a Harewood Artist at English National Opera and is to perform David in their production of The Mastersingers next season. He was trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the National Opera Studio, He is a former Britten-Pears Young Artist, George Solti and Samling Scholar and a Kathleen Ferrier Young Singers Award winner.

Julia Cobby studied English Literature at Oxford while continuing her musical studies in London. She has worked exclusively with singers, being in high demand as a vocal coach, as well as playing for masterclasses and performing in recitals. She works regularly with Nicky Spence, to whom she introduced us at Rosehill.
