Powerful images of love and war frame this exciting programme of piano and chamber music. Ensemble 360 launch Love and War Music in the Round’s festival of chamber music with the world premiere of Charlie Piper’s new work for mixed instrument septet and narrator. The new piece by Music in the Round’s Associate Composer is inspired by letters from the First World War.

The programme also features Prokofiev's Seventh Piano Sonata, completed in 1942, and described by the composer himself as depicting 'the threatening atmosphere of a world that has lost its balance'. It’s also a chance to hear Brahms's Sextet in G, written at a time when Brahms was infatuated with Agathe von Siebold, to whom he had briefly been engaged: Agathe is woven into the very fabric of the music –her name (A-G-A-[T]-H-E) forming one of the most important themes in this radiant work.
