Following performances at Field Day and Parklife this year, Ontario's Jessy Lanza is stopping off in Sheffield for a headline show at Bungalows.
Jessy Lanza studied Jazz Performance and Piano at Concordia University in Montreal, after a thorough schooling from her musical parents. Her love of hip hop, r&b and electronics was ignited after she inherited her father's collection of synths and drum machines, but her sound really began to take shape when she started working on sessions for the Junior Boys' 2011 album It's All True. Prior to her own debut album, Lanza lent her voice to Ikonika's Beach Mode and also remixed Matthew Dear's Earthforms. Impressed by Lanza's musicality, Junior Boys' Jeremy Greenspan co-produced her first LP Pull My Hair Back in 2013. The album was released on Hyperdub and offers a glimpse of the kaleidoscopic r&b of tomorrow.
