The Journey Tour: Big Country + Simon Townshend (From The Who) + Dave McPherson (InMe)
Big Country, one of Britain's most successful and best-loved rock bands, are touring the UK and Eire in April 2013 with a new line-up – and will release a brand new album later in the year.
After a 10 year break, the band returned to touring in late 2010. "After 30 years I would never thought I would be playing in Big Country again," says guitarist Bruce Watson, "A band Stuart and I started last millenium in the hope of carrying on his dreams from his days in the Skids. We hope to do him proud."
Drummer Mark Brzezicki adds "As Big Country continue to evolve, the journey continues. I am looking forward to expanding the journey into new territories and continuing our unfinished business across the world."
The band exploded onto the scene in 1983 with anthemic songs such as 'Fields of Fire' & 'In A Big Country' which were culled from their classic debut album 'The Crossing', which sold several million worldwide. They followed up with a number one album 'Steeltown'. They released 8 studio albums all of which entered the Top Ten and released 28 singles 5 of which were also Top Ten.
Following the passing of lead vocalist Stuart Adamson in 2001, the three remaining members Mark Brzezicki, Tony Butler and Bruce Watson reunited for a UK tour in 2007 and released the album Twenty Five Live. Mike Peters handled vocal duties for Big Country from 2010, but left the group in 2013. Following Peters' departure, the band announced they would continue as a quartet with original member Bruce Watson on guitar and vocals, Mark Brzezicki, who joined shortly after the band's formation, on drums, Jamie Watson (2010- ) on guitars and Derek Forbes (2012 - ) on bass.

In addition to his own music, Simon has produced artists both in London and New York. He has performed with numerous established acts ranging from Jeff Beck to Pearl Jam, and including elder brother Pete Townshend, with notable song writing and vocal contributions to Iron Man and Psychoderelict. Other credits include 15 years as guitarist and vocalist in The Who, playing sold out tours of Europe, Asia and North America, and a monumental performance at the 2010 Super Bowl.
