Opera Project returns to the Festival with the premiere of a brand new production of Donizetti’s comic opera, Don Pasquale.

Set in the early years of the Great War, our cast of characters is lifted straight from the world of commedia dell’arte. Ernesto loves Norina, but his blustering uncle Pasquale has another match in mind for his nephew. When Ernesto refuses to play along, the old man resolves himself to marry, disinheriting his nephew by producing a son of his own. Then the family doctor convinces Nerina, in disguise, to woo Pasquale, and all manner of silliness ensues…

Sung in English, accompanied by a small chamber orchestra, this witty new production perfectly captures the sparkle of this Donizetti gem.
