Words In Walden - Vera Brittain: A Woman In Peace And War
Three years after Shirley Williams was born, her mother, the internationally-acclaimed pacifist, feminist and author Vera Brittain, published her ‘Testament of Youth’, one of the most moving and enduring war memoirs of all time which, 80 years on, still resonates in today’s era of conflict. A major figure in British politics over the last 50 years, Shirley Williams has herself been deeply involved in attempts to resolve the conflicts of her time.
An outstanding political thinker and speaker, she is uniquely qualified to talk about her mother’s impact on the 20th century.
