The Museum of English Rural Life (MERL) houses collections relating to the history of food, farming and the countryside, including objects, books and archives. Owned and run by the University of Reading, the Museum presents a full programme of events and exhibitions for a variety of audiences from families to students and special interest groups. MERL presents a series of intimate folk concerts each Spring, hosted by singer Hilary James, which take place in the evocative setting of the Museum.
